Curriculum

At Puss Bank School & Nursery, we aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which is research informed and evidence based. We have high expectations and ambition for all pupils and strive for them to achieve their very best.

Skills and knowledge are taught in a systematic and progressive way to enable pupils to build on prior knowledge and build up the resilience to use those skills and knowledge in the future. We teach in a subject-specific way and make cross-curricular links to ensure that skills and knowledge are transferable. Our curriculum reflects our wider school population and context. We use a wide variety of educational trips and visits to enhance the children’s learning. The impact of our curriculum is monitored regularly. We deliver all aspects of the curriculum using a metacognitive approach. Pupils are taught to develop their long-term memory and, in turn, develop their own self-regulation strategies which enable them to become lifelong independent and active learners.

To find out more about how we are complying with our duties in the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014, by making the curriculum accessible for those with disabilities or special educational needs, please refer to our
